Letting go of every single dream
I lay each one down at Your feet
Every moment of my wandering
Never changes what You see
I try to win this war
I confess, my hands are weary, I need Your rest
Mighty warrior, king of the fight
No matter what I face You're by my side
When You don't move the mountains
I'm needing You to move
When You don't part the waters
I wish I could walk through
When You don't give the answers
As I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You
Truth is, You know what tomorrow brings
There's not a day ahead You have not seen
So let all things be my life and breath
I want what You want Lord and nothing less.
You are my strength and comfort
You are my steady hand
Your are my firm foundation
The rock on which I stand
Your ways are always higher
Your plans are always good
There's not a place where I'll go
You've not already stood
Trust....assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something; one in which confidence is placed; a dependence on something future; hope. Trust is a very hard thing. Do you have someone in your life that you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, you can trust? Someone who has YOUR best interests at heart? Well, if you know Jesus, the answer is a definite "Yes!"
Jesus, who is the Maker of heaven and earth. It's at His feet that we can lay every facet of our life, no matter how bad it has become. All the time that we spent away from Him, not acknowledging Him or giving Him the time of day, He never changed. He continued loving and caring for us. Whenever He looks at us, all He sees is a child of God. Once we realize we can't make it through this life without Him, everything changes. As He looks at us, we start looking back, and begin to see that He really is the only one we can trust. "Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you." - Psalm 9:10.
Our wandering stops as we have now found everything we need. Our weariness turns into rest. Our fear turns into safety and security. We trust Him with our life. In fact, we trust Him so much, that even when our mountains of adversity do not move, and the waters of pain and hardship do not part, we know that He is still there, walking with us through each and every trial. We keep our eyes on the One that we know has all the answers. "Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing. Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God." - Psalm 146:3-5.
Knowing Jesus is by our side teaches us to live our lives with eternity in view. He becomes all that we need while maneuvering through life. He becomes our firm foundation, our strength, and our comfort. His ways are higher than ours and His plans are always good. Yes, even His plans for our lives. "Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods." - Psalm 40:4. "Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf." - Proverbs 11:28.
Yes, trust is hard. It is not natural for us, as humans, to turn our lives over to anything or anyone on this earth. But, once we learn just who it was that gave us our life, and then begin to realize that He, and He alone, has our best interests at heart, loving us beyond any means of understanding, well....it becomes easy. Easy because its not natural, its supernatural!
I will trust, I will trust in You!
