You are not alone if you are lonely
When you feel afraid, you're not the only
We are all the same, in need of mercy
To be forgiven and be free
It's all you got to lean on, but thank God it's all you need
If you're rich or poor, well it don't matter
Weak or strong, you know love is what we're after
We're all broken, but we're all in this together
God knows we stumble and fall
And He so loved the world He sent His son to save us all
Blessed are the poor in spirit who are torn apart
Blessed are the persecuted and the pure in heart
Blessed are the people hungry for another start
For theirs is the kingdom, the kingdom of God
And all the people said Amen, Oh, Oh
And all the people said Amen
give thanks to the Lord for His love never ends
And all the people said Amen
If you know God, you are never alone - No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you - Joshua 1:5. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go - Joshua 1:9. Having the Lord as a constant companion takes away all fear.
God knows we cannot maneuver this life on our own. Even though we think we can, eventually we will find we are wrong - There is a way that appears right, but in the end it leads to death - Proverbs 14:12. So He sent His Son, Jesus, to teach us how to live and to bring us back to Him. Jesus brought heaven down to earth and shows us how to enter into the blessings and promises of God. Because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions - it is by grace you have been saved - Ephesians 2:4-5.
If we hold fast to these teachings, keeping them in our hearts, along with the love that God has for us, we will begin to live out of a heart that has been transformed. You were taught with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted with its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness - Ephesians 4:22-24. A heart transformed is a heart that lives for God. His ways become your ways. His desires become your desires. His prayers become your prayers.
Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail - Lamentations 3:22-23. We will, however, stumble and fall at times, but through His great grace and mercy, He allows us to continue on, as we strive to live our life as He would have us to - You, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness - Psalm 86:15.
In the Word, Jesus addresses all people. Their status, income, or popularity doesn't matter to Him. He knows what we all have in common; that we are all broken, in need of help, and reaching out for love. He came to give us help, repair our brokenness, and love us beyond measure.
The Bridge of this song states the Beatitudes, which are found in Matthew 5. This is known as Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. Blessed are the poor in spirit who are torn apart = If we are living apart from God, we are poor in spirit, which will result in our life being torn apart. We are then blessed when we seek after God to make us rich in spirit. Blessed are the persecuted and the pure in heart = If you follow after Jesus and live by His laws, you will be persecuted. Maybe by friends, family, or people who don't even know you. Stay pure in heart, even through persecution and you will be blessed. Blessed are the people who are hungry for another start = When you tire of the life you are living away from Jesus and begin to turn to Him for another life, you will definitely be blessed. All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful toward those who keep the demands of his covenant - Psalm 25:10. These are the people who will experience all the benefits of the Kingdom of God.
When you belong to the family of God, you can stand up with others, in unity, and say "AMEN," giving thanks to the Lord, knowing His love never ends. You are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God's people and also members of his household - Ephesians 2:19.
