Verse 1:
I know you're feeling the fire
I know you're facing the storm
I know you're buried in ashes
I know you're weathered and worn
I know You feel abandoned
Like no one knows your pain
Don't lose faith, just call my name
Chorus:
I get it, I got you
These hands will never drop you
There's nothing you could walk through
That I haven't walked before
I get it, I got you
My thoughts have never lost you
When this world feels like it's robbed you
Just know all I have is yours
Verse 2:
Hold onto the promise, hold onto the truth
I've won every battle
These scars are the proof
Just trust that when you let go
You'll fall into my grace
Don't lose faith, just call my name, cause
Bridge:
No, there's never been a moment
There's never been a day
There's never been a broken heart
That's been too far away
No, you don't have to earn it
The work's already done
Oh, there's nothing you could ever
Do to separate my love, oh I get it
Ah yes, the fires and storms of this life. They can come at us from many different directions and in many different forms, becoming very severe and, at times, very destructive. And making matters worse, over so many of them we have absolutely no control....or do we?
When you become a follower of Jesus, and begin reading His Word, all these fires and storms seem to take on a whole new form. They tend to become less severe and destructive. The Book of Isaiah tells us that when we pass through the waters, that God is with us. That when we pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over us. That when we walk through the fire, we won't get burned and the flames will not set us ablaze. The Book of Jeremiah tells us that the fire that we feel is now the fire of His Word. A fire that burns so deep in our bones, we are unable to hold it in. We have to talk about it....to whoever will listen. It's a fire that is so hot, it makes the storms of life become like soft, soaking rains. As Jeremiah tells us, His Word is like a hammer that breaks up the walls of rock, the life moments that stop us in our tracks, putting to a halt everything going on in our daily life. These times become moments of understanding of who He is and who He wants to be in each of our lives. The burned-up ashes of this life can no longer bury us. Our weathered, worn, and abandoned feelings that are holding us down, now seem to be lifting us up, as we find ourselves being held in His strong hands. He gets it. He's got us, and His hands will never drop us.
His Word opens our eyes to the reality of the falseness of this world. We now see Him as our only truth, and His promises as something to hold onto. Through Him, this world is no longer able to rob us of anything, because He owns it all, and all He has is ours. Our faith stays intact because we know that He has won every battle, and He gives us the power to do the same. By calling on His name, we are able to let go of the things of this world, falling into His grace.
Oh yes, He gets it. He's got us. His hands will never drop us.
So, does He have you?
