Verse 1:
There are moments nothing can replace
When Heaven and Earth meet face to face
When a broken heart begins to change
A word takes on flesh and a soul finds faith
Where the unfulfilled are satisfied
And the unknown scars are reconciled
There's an open door to brand new life
Up close in the presence of the Savior
Chorus:
I just wanna be in the room
Wanna be in the room when You move
And I'm not leaving
Not leaving till You do
(I don't want to miss it)
Verse 2:
I wanna see the blind receive their sight
Hear the praise of the voiceless start to rise
Every child of God baptized with fire
Right here in the presence of the Healer
Bridge:
Tear off the roof
Lower me down
Whatever it takes to get me to You
Roll every stone
Push through the crowd
God I wanna see You breakthrough
I LOVE THIS SONG!!
The moments that nothing can replace, when Heaven and Earth meet face to face, are moments when someone who doesn't know Jesus realizes that He is needed in their life. Moments when the Holy Spirit grabs hold of a lost and broken heart and begins to change it. Moments when the Word of God enters into a fleshly body and speaks to the soul, creating a place for faith to take hold. Moments when whatever hasn't been fulfilled in that life now becomes satisfied. Moments when the many scars left by bad decisions and other people, are all reconciled. Moments when we find that being up close in the presence of the Savior opens a door to a brand-new life. Yes! These are the moments that nothing, absolutely nothing, can replace!
Those of us who have experienced this brand-new open door, love to be in the room when someone else experiences the same thing. We love it when those who are blind receive their sight and can now see all of their life from an entirely new perspective. We love it when others are baptized with the fire of the Holy Spirit, and we hear their voices rise in praise and worship to Jesus, our Healer. Yes, we love to be in the room when Heaven and Earth meet face to face. But this just doesn't happen near enough. So, the ones who already know what all this is like...we're still in the room, but we're in the room of prayer. Prayer for all those who have not yet experienced this amazing change...this amazing brand-new life. And we don't leave that room till we see Him move. We just keep going back, and back, and back.
Then the song says, "Tear off the roof, lower me down, whatever it takes to get me to You." This is referring to a story in Luke 5, where two friends tear off a section of roof and lower their paralyzed friend down to Jesus for healing. They were that determined to get him healed. "Roll every stone" is referring to the story in Matthew 28, where the stone in front of Jesus' tomb was rolled back by an angel after a violent earthquake. "Push through the crowd" refers to a story in Luke 8, where a woman pushed through the crowd just so she could touch the edge of Jesus' cloak, knowing that by doing so she would be healed. Now, let's take a look at these from the standpoint of our lives....
'Tear off the roof' could mean to rid ourselves of all that is keeping us from coming to Jesus. Maybe pride. Or we just have too many other things to do. Or we think that we have plenty of time to make this decision. Or we just don't want anything to do with Him. Whatever the reasons, they need to be torn away. 'Lower me down' is what I would call a dangerous request but may be necessary. This is asking Jesus to bring us to a point where there is no doubt that we need Him. To humble us. Maybe to put us in some situation that proves how incapable we are of doing this thing called 'life' by ourselves. This could become very painful, but for a great purpose, and an even greater outcome. 'Roll every stone' could mean getting rid of any sin that is holding us down. For every stronghold that has us in bondage to be broken and destroyed. To rid ourselves of these may take nothing short of a divine earthquake. 'Push through the crowd' could mean to give us the strength, courage, and power we need to be able to stand up against our current culture, continuing to move in the opposite direction towards Jesus, not in the same direction as everyone else. So, let me ask you....
Are you tearing off the roof? Are you allowing yourself to be lowered down? Are you asking Him to use whatever means necessary to get you to Him? Are you rolling back every stone? Are you pushing through the crowds? Do you want to see Him breakthrough?
With Jesus, this becomes our brand-new way of life. Our eyes see. Our voices rise with praise and worship. Our bodies are filled with the fiery presence of the Holy Spirit. Jesus has broken through! And like the determined friends, we too want others to experience what we now have.
Oh Yes! We are In The Room!
And we won't leave until He moves in yours!
