Verse 1:
The arrows fly, ten thousand fall
Still You protect me through it all
The waters rise
The oceans rage
Still You're the One the storm obeys
Chorus:
In the shelter of Your presence
In the shadow of Your wings
I am safe
I am safe
I will hold onto Your promise
You will not abandon me
I am safe
I am safe
Verse 2:
To You I run when mountains shake
You are my shield, my hiding place
Almighty God
I will draw near
Your perfect love
Casts out all fear
Bridge:
There's nothing left to fear
There's nothing left to fear
There's nothing left to fear
There's nothing left to fear
A shelter is 'something that covers or affords protection; to place under shelter or protection; haven; refuge; sanctuary.' We have no better shelter than God. He alone covers and protects us. He alone is our safe haven, refuge, and sanctuary. If you are not sure of this then you have not been in the Scriptures, as they make it very clear.
'The arrows fly, ten thousand fall' is explained in Psalm 91:5-7, "You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you." He is our Shelter.
'The waters rise, the oceans rage. Still You're the One the storm obeys' is found in Matthew 8:26, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid? Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm." He is our Shelter.
'In the shelter of Your presence, in the shadow of Your wings I am safe, I am safe' is stated in Psalm 91:1, "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty." He is our Shelter.
'I will hold onto Your promise' is in Isaiah 41:10, "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." He is our Shelter.
'You will not abandon me, I am safe, I am safe' can be found in Joshua 1:9 and Hebrews 13:5. "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you." He is our Shelter.
'To You I run when mountains shake' is explained in Proverbs 18:10 and Psalm 46:2-3. "The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe." "We will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging." He is our Shelter.
'You are my shield and hiding place' is stated in Psalm 27:5 and 28:7. "In the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock." "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me." He is our Shelter.
'Almighty God, I will draw near. Your perfect love casts out all fear' is found in James 4:8 and 1 John 4:18. "Come near to God and he will come near to you." "There is no fear in love. Perfect love drives out fear." He is our Shelter.
Yes, He is our Shelter and has done so through the blood of His Son, Jesus. The blood that covers us, bringing us out of a life of slavery to sin and providing refuge, protection, and peace. His every word is flawless and He shields all who take refuge in Him. If we fear man, we will be snared. But if we trust in the Lord, we will be kept safe. Our trust in Him will keep us in perfect peace.
So, what covers and affords you protection? Are you sure of your shelter?
