Weep with me
Lord, will You weep with me?
I don't need answers, all I need
Is to know that You care for me
Hear my plea
Are You even listening?
Lord I will wrestle with Your heart
But I won't let You go
You know I believe
Help my unbelief
Yet I will praise You
Yet I will sing of Your name
Here in the shadows
Here I will offer my praise
What's true in the light
Is still true in the dark
You're good and You're kind
And You care for this heart
Lord, I believe
You weep with me
Part the seas
Lord, make a way for me
Here in the midst of my lament
I have faith, yes I still believe
That You love me
Your plans are to prosper me
You're working everything for good
Even when I can't see
Turn my lament into a love song
From this lament raise up an anthem
Oh, I'll sing it in the darkness
Oh, turn my lament into a love song
Cause I love You Lord
And from this lament raise up an anthem
This song confirms the heart of Jesus. "Jesus wept." - John 11:35. A heart that is troubled and very sad because of the choices we make that do not include Him. From the very first choice to separate ourselves from God that was made in the Garden, to those we continue making today. Choices that cause us pain and heartache. Yes, He weeps with us.
In this fallen world, we have no right to expect anything good from God. Yet, He continues being good to us...in spite of our thoughts and beliefs of Him. This is His nature. He cannot do otherwise. Because of His love for us, He sent Jesus to show us the way back to Him. To show us the way out of sin. To show us this fallen world is not our home. To show us that in spite of all the heartache and sorrow we must contend with, He is still there. Yes, He weeps with us.
We have no problem seeing Him working in our life when things are good. Oh, yes these are the times in which He sees and hears, taking very good care of us. But when bad things happen, do we wrestle with Jesus' heart? Do we think He doesn't care? When we cry out for help, do we think He doesn't hear our pleas, that He's not even listening? These are the times in which we need to grab onto Him and hold on, not letting Him go, making sure He knows that "Yes, we believe. Help our unbelief!" Here is when we learn that He is the same in the dark as He was in the light.
So, what do we do here in this intense darkness? A darkness in which we are unable to see even a sliver of light. We praise! We praise! We sing of the greatness of His name! This is the one thing that will bring in His light. A light so bright that it overpowers all of our darkness. Because we know He is good and kind. We know He cares for our heart. We know that He weeps with us.
Jesus makes ways for us by parting the seas of our chaotic lives. He has plans to prosper us. Even when all we can see is pain and heartache, He is there....working. Working all things out for our good. In the midst of our sorrow, because of our faith in Him, our cries of help become a love song to Him and an anthem of praise for Him.
In Luke 19, Jesus wept over the city of Jerusalem. He wept because they didn't recognize Him for who He was. They didn't recognize the time of God's coming to them. Are we recognizing that He is with us, working in and through every aspect of our lives? Are we praising Him for all the good....and all the bad? Are we able to turn our laments into love songs? Do we really and truly understand?
He weeps with us.
